About Us

We formed Innovationship out of a shared passion...

A passion for helping organizations cultivate a human-centered culture that encourages original ideas, tackles complex problems, and uncovers extraordinary new solutions.

With a shared background that began in the 1980s, our process has its roots in our work as pioneers of the original design process at IDEO. And in 2012, we came together to focus our efforts on how best to guide our clients through the process of discovering and integrating design thinking.

Since then, we have helped startups, midsize firms, multinationals, and academic institutions around the world bring this essential process into their organization.

His work on empathy and design and his insight that “innovation begins with an eye” are cited in several bestselling books. He has practiced and taught at leading institutions around the world, and his experience across industries and cultures, combined with his hands-on style of teaching, give him a unique perspective on the practice of innovation.

    Scott Underwood

Scott has helped thousands of people around the world learn design thinking since starting his own firm in 2009. Previously, he spent over two decades at IDEO in corporate storytelling, marketing communication, business development, employee experience, and more. As a writer and editor, he has created everything from white papers to websites, and he contributed to a number of books, including The Ten Faces of Innovation and The Art of Innovation, both by Tom Kelley, and Change By Design by Tim Brown.

In 20 years at IDEO, I never met anyone with a broader range of knowledge or a deeper sense of curiosity than Scott. Those skills make him valuable in an era when storytelling has become a key success factor for all organizations who want to make their mark on the world.
